Ways to Teach Children About Constellations

Teaching children about the science of astronomy can be fun. Simple and fun astronomy games can be quite useful in teaching a child the importance of science. Parents may obtain a membership in an astronomy science center for their children. Science centers offer classes that focus on the participation of children. Here are some of the best ways to teach your children about constellations.

(1) Star Gazing

Star gazing is searching and identifying constellations and planets in the nighttime sky. Many science centers offer powerful telescopes to increase the intensity of planets and stars, that are seen by children. This teaching method can also be taught by parents.

(2) Star Theaters

Star theaters are lighted projectors that are installed on the walls or ceiling of a room. The projections only appear when the room is dark. The projectors identify and name stars and constellations that may be seen while traveling through space. Star theaters are also recommended for outdoor use.

(3) Planispheres are incredible star charts for the “beginner Astronomer”. A child will know what stars are visible on a certain night, by moving the wheel to a specific date.

(4) Online Games

Online and interactive websites are good learning tools. Online games seem to attract the attention of children of all ages. Kids are provided with information about the exploration of space, planets, moon phases, and an overall knowledge of the solar system.
